Ontario Pork faced increased scrutiny of its practices in animal welfare, environmental stewardship, food safety, labour and more. Environmental and social criteria were becoming increasingly important to its key communities. The industry’s reputation was on the line, and social responsibility reporting became a key communications priority.
Ontario Pork teamed with Argyle to articulate its dedication to social responsibility. Priority one was creating their inaugural social responsibility report, outlining commitments to economic, environmental, social and governance performance. This became the strategic platform for numerous communications initiatives.
Ontario Pork’s social responsibility journey continues today. The industry is charting a course of continuous improvement, inspiring the industry to evaluate its practices in animal welfare, worker wellbeing, economic prosperity, and environmental impact. The goal is to build reputation with consumers, stakeholders, and policymakers.
