The City of Edmonton
Metro Line NW Extension
Challenge
The City of Edmonton was seeking ways to gather feedback and input from the public about the Metro Line NW Extension project, and how to best implement the project. That meant connecting with and listening to a whole lot of people – so Argyle was called in to help.
Solution
Using a combination of facilitated sessions and community outreach, the project team engaged with over 5,000 people. We planned and held several engagement events that required massive logistical organization. We also worked closely with the City and the project team to develop project messages, Q&A on key issues and to coordinate communications. And when it was all over, the City heard Edmontonians loud and clear.
Impact
Public feedback gathered through the Metro Line NW Extension engagement program was considered and ultimately influenced key design decisions throughout the alignment. The most notable decision of high public interest was a bridge or tunnel option at a key intersection in the heart of Edmonton. The public’s input influenced the final selection of a bridge due to the lower cost implications and enhanced pedestrian cyclist connection this option produced.
